Introduction

Exercise

After completing Task 3, I began working on the next phase of progress. I focused on adding a start page to the application to ensure a smoother and more intuitive user experience. This update is designed to enhance both the user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) by creating a more cohesive and engaging flow for users.

The start page serves as an introductory gateway, improving navigation and setting a positive first impression. My main priorities were to:

  • Optimize the visual design for clarity and appeal.
  • Ensure the interface is user-friendly and intuitive.
  • Streamline interactions to make the app feel more fluent and seamless.
Google Docs:

I did not change anything but i add on few pages and interaction: idle, homepage, talk with me.

By incorporating these improvements, the app now offers a more polished and professional feel, providing users with an enjoyable and efficient experience right from the start.

Following the enhancements to the start page, I added a button within Unity to streamline navigation. With this new feature, users can directly click on the button to seamlessly transition to the homepage.

This improvement enhances accessibility and ensures a smoother user journey, making the app more intuitive and user-friendly. The added functionality simplifies interactions and aligns with the goal of providing a polished and cohesive user experience.

To further improve the user experience, I created a button using 2D and UI elements in Unity. I redesigned the button to feature a glossy appearance, adding a modern and polished look. This visual enhancement not only improves the app's aesthetics but also makes the button more engaging and intuitive for users to interact with.

To improve navigation and interactivity, I implemented functionality to transition to the next page, which is the "MenuScene". Additionally, I created a slide bar that allows users to seamlessly interact with other pages. Users can also tap on the main page to view detailed information about student artwork and explore their portfolios. These features ensure a smooth and engaging experience, making it easier for users to explore and interact with the app.

By clicking on a student's artwork, users can view a close-up of the piece for better appreciation and detail. Additionally, a button below the artwork allows users to seamlessly navigate to the student's portfolio.

This page provides a view of the student's portfolio. It includes their contact information, a showcase of their artwork, and additional details about their creative process. Employers interested in collaborating with the student or artists wishing to purchase their artwork can easily reach out through the contact options available on this page.

The menu slidebar offers several options, including Portfolio, where users can explore all student portfolios. By selecting a specific student profile, users can access more detailed information about the student, including their work, contact details, and creative journey.

Next, move to the art story section, where users can interact with the idle character. By pressing the "Talk to Me" button, the character will begin narrating the story behind the current artwork displayed on the artboard. The narration will provide insights into the inspiration, process, and meaning of the piece, offering users an engaging and immersive experience with the artwork.

Last, here is where they could see the 3D Animation, interact with the idle and see 3D immersive design of the student artwork.

Reflection

Experience

This was my first time exploring AR and Unity, and it felt refreshing to step into something new. The experience allowed me to expand my knowledge and connect with people outside my course, which was enriching. The lectures and tutorials provided a solid foundation for tackling the exercises, and I found the user journey mapping and video tutorials particularly useful for my app design work. While learning Unity was challenging—especially since I initially lacked the proper system setup—I enjoyed experimenting and discovering how to apply my existing skills in a new context.

Findings

Unity’s user interface proved to be quite complex and somewhat intimidating at first. However, I realized that this is a common trait of many professional design programs. Thankfully, the abundance of video tutorials and resources made it easier to understand and navigate through the challenges.

Observations

Despite struggling with Unity as a beginner, I found the process of modeling and experimenting with AR enjoyable. It was fascinating to see how AR can enhance interactivity and creativity in design, sparking new ideas for future projects.
