Introduction
Group 14 - Durian Finder App/ Duricious
Week 1
In the first week, we were introduced to the module information booklet and
received an overview of the project requirements. After reviewing the
topics, our team decided to develop an app that helps users discover hidden
places and local food, as it aligned well with our skills and interests. We
began by researching the problem statement and formulating “How Might We”
(HMW) questions. Based on our findings, we developed a preliminary set of
interview questions tailored to our project objectives.
Week 2
Interview Summary & Issues
During our consultation, our lecturer advised us to refine our topic
further. If we were focusing on hidden spots, we needed to specify the type
(e.g., cultural sites, nature spots, or street food). Similarly, for local
food, we had to narrow it down to a specific category to ensure a consistent
visual direction and design for the app. For this week, we had conducted
interview summary and find out the Top 6 issues from the data analysis.

Week 3
This week, we conducted interviews with three key target groups: foreigners,
food bloggers, and local food enthusiasts. After analyzing the responses, we
determined that our primary target audience would be tourists, as they would
benefit the most from discovering hidden food spots. The insights gathered
helped us gain a clearer direction for our project. Following another
consultation, our lecturer advised us to focus on a single type of local
food for better consistency. For example, if we were choosing hawker food,
we should concentrate on one specific dish, such as nasi lemak. Based on
this feedback, we presented three ideation concepts and ultimately decided
to create a Durian Finder app.

Week 4
Taking our lecturer’s feedback into account, we refined our interview
questions to focus on the durian industry. We then conducted interviews with
10 participants to gain insights into user needs and preferences regarding
durian purchases. Initially, we targeted individuals with high social status,
but after receiving feedback, we realized they were not the ideal audience. We
then redefined our target groups to include tourists, locals, durian lovers, and durian sellers as potential partners.
Week 5
After finalizing our data analysis, we reviewed it with our lecturer and began strategizing monetization. Our approach involved revenue generation through partnerships with durian sellers and facilitating purchases for durian buyers. We also conducted a competitor analysis but found only a few websites offering durian delivery services. We selected two well-known platforms for comparison to complete our analysis.
Week 6
With the research phase completed, we shifted our focus to
the design direction. I took the lead in assigning specific tasks to team members and
provided a detailed briefing on the design system to ensure consistency.
The team was divided into departments: UI/UX design, website development, user flow, information architecture,
and presentation preparation. This structured approach allowed us to streamline our workflow and
maintain high-quality deliverables.
Week 7
After finalizing all the necessary information, we began developing our
presentation slides,
ensuring they effectively communicate our findings, design process, and
final concept.
