REFLECTION
Throughout this course, my journey in exploring the realm of UI/UX design
has been both challenging and enlightening. At the outset, I embarked on a
comparative study between traditional mall shopping and online platforms
like Lazada and Shopee. However, with valuable feedback from my instructor,
I realized the need to narrow down my focus and incorporate elements related
to the evolving landscape of AI.
My fascination with AI led me to the intriguing question: "Could AI chatbots
be friends with humans?" Although the topic seemed captivating, it deviated
significantly from the core principles of UI/UX design. Acknowledging this
misalignment, I refocused my efforts on interface design and user
experience.
The shift in focus became apparent during the critical review stage, where I
initially chose to explore the evolution of the iPhone from the 5th to the
15th model. Feedback from my instructor highlighted the need for a more
recent and relevant scope, leading me to delve into the interface design of
the iPhone X to the latest model, the iPhone 15.
Adapting to the feedback wasn't without its challenges. A setback occurred
during the collection of primary data when I mistakenly duplicated age
ranges in the survey form. This technical glitch was promptly corrected.
Despite the initial plan to interview overseas professionals, logistical
constraints compelled me to rely solely on the survey form. Yet, with nearly
60 responses, I gathered substantial insights.
To enhance the depth of my findings, my instructor recommended conducting a
focus group. This step proved valuable, adding a qualitative layer to my
research. Subsequently, three insightful interviews with UI/UX designers
provided a more nuanced understanding of iPhone interface design.
The culmination of this journey is evident in the completion of Assignment
3. The process of writing my speech, recording the presentation, and
compiling my ePortfolio allowed me to synthesize my research, insights, and
experiences.
In retrospect, this course has been a dynamic exploration of UI/UX design,
requiring adaptability and a continuous refinement of my research focus.
Navigating challenges, from topic selection to data collection, has fostered
resilience and resourcefulness. I recognize the importance of feedback and
iterative refinement in the design process, a lesson that will undoubtedly
shape my future endeavors in the field of UI/UX.
